Bachelor is a Dahlia son who began his therapy dog career at one year of age.  He and Jim keep quite a busy schedule.  They are part of the second grade reading program at a local grade school once a week (including remedial reading in the summer).  It has been proven that children who read aloud to a therapy dog, especially at the second grade level, can advance their reading and learning skills by leaps and bounds.

Bachelor spends one afternoon a week visiting the local clinic and hospital; and another weekly visit to an Alzheimer's unit and an assisted living facility.  Bachelor has quite a following and knows which nurses keep dog treats in their desk for him.  He can put his paws up on the counter to "check-in" at the clinic, as well as open the swinging gate to get to the nurse's station stocked with treats.  He has assisted in calming agitated patients prior to treatment, visited a patient mauled by her own dog, offered companionship to those no longer able to keep a pet, and offered comfort to those near passing.  He has special abilities in this area.

Bachelor has all routine health
